“One of the biggest challenges in the implementation of SDGs is the gap between the goals and the indicators to monitor progress, as well as the lack of right-based indicators”, said Cai Yiping, member of DAWN´s Executive Committee, during the Expert Group Meeting held on July 5 to 6 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting brought together experts from academia, Governments and civil society to identify synergies and linkages between the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the ICPD Programme of Action with a focus on issues pertinent to the Asia-Pacific region; assess the situation with regards to population and development in the Asia-Pacific region; and provide inputs to a road map to prepare for the 5-year review meeting of the outcomes of the 6th APPC in 2018.
