With a grin, BioNTech’s CEO said it’s just a matter of time before we need a new vaccine for Covid-19 to battle new variants such as Omicron.
The world is literally in a political, economic, and survival crisis, and there are still those who profit from this mayhem, as cleverly illustrated by @thekaranmenon on the video. The emergence of the Omicron variant was predicted and expected by scientists. As it is widely known, with a low rate of immunisation, the virus has more chances to circulate and mutate, creating new and possibly more dangerous variants.
This mechanism is nothing new to science, in fact, it is taught in high school: most people know it by the popular (and misleading) term “evolution”, but the famous author who described it called it “descent with modification”, since it’s a random and context-dependent process.
