The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is a functional commission of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), one of the six main organs within the United Nations system. CSW has been described as the UN organ promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women. Every year, representatives of member states gather at the UN headquarters in New York to evaluate progress on gender equality, identify challenges, set global standards and formulate concrete policies to promote gender equality and the advancement of women worldwide. DAWN has consultative status in ECOSOC, alongside numerous civil society organisations across the globe, and engages with this process in various ways. You can learn more about these activities in this section of the website.
