Big Pharma makes money out of despair ⏳
Their whole business model is founded on the demand for the newest life-saving technology and the less it is available, the better.
Today, April 28th, Pfizer is hosting its Annual General Meeting, celebrating the start of sales of covid jabs at even more profitable prices (as if they weren’t already), announcing the development of 2nd generation vaccines and commending their huge profits.
A lot to smile about for sure. Vaccines (or the lack thereof) is just good business.
Joining the multimillionaires’ VIP club, Pfizer’s CEO Albert Bourla received $24.3 million in total compensation, without counting stocks and other benefits, for the company’s great performance. Moderna’s Stéphane Bancel, BioNTech’s Ugur Sahin also have their member’s cards, according to a @peoplesvaccine report.
Meanwhile, low and middle-income countries become even more indebted, signing deals with the IMF and implementing conditional austerity measures as their people suffer with unemployment, loss of income and dwindling social services. Low and middle-income countries have vaccinated only 15% of their population—the pandemic is far from over.
