Breaking Through the Development Silos: Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, MDGs and Gender Equity

“Authored by gita Sen and Bhavya Reddy, this article analyses the detrimental impact of the Millennium Development Goals’ (MDGs) siloed architecture on the implementation of the comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) agenda established in Cairo and Beijing. Published in 2013 in Reproductive Health Matters, the article draws on a report undertaken by DAWN as part of its contribution to the Millennium Development Goals review process, with links to DAWN’s analysis and advocacy on sexual and reproductive health and rights.
This paper presents a slightly condensed version of the overview of that report, which describes in-depth research undertaken in Mexico, India and Nigeria between 2008 and 2010.”
